We're leaving the same day as the interview.

We're leaving for Montreal the day before.

Who knows when we'll get there though, haha.

So me and the hun will arrive on Thursday and I think we're staying til either Sat or Sun... Might as well make some kind of trip for this event because its already expensive as it is :P

I wanted to stay an extra day, but my fiance doesn't want to seem to spend the money.

I mean, if they're over booking, who knows when we'll actually get out of there.

Not to mention we have to go an hour further than Toronto. Maybe I can ask my parents to help us pay for the hotel or the train.

Trains are too expensive and I hate buses.

My husband didn't want to spend the extra money either.. and now that all is said and done, I'm glad we didn't. We were finished our interview by 10:00, went back to the hotel and took a quick nap/rest, checked out at 11 and then walked around the city until our train at 5:00. It was seriously just the right amount of time. We had arrived the day before and had also walked to Notre Dame and Old Montreal then. It was enough time to get a taste of the city and not spend extra $$. We figured by the time we had dinner and breakfast the next morning, we would've ended up spending more than we needed to. Don't feel like you need to spend an extra night to see the city, we didn't!

Hotwire.com is the way to go for booking a nice hotel. You'll always get something brand name and they 100% trustworthy. Like I mentioned earlier, that's the only way we book a hotel wherever we are going. We've used it 4 or 5 times now and never been disappointed!!

So I'm busy biting my nails (figuratively) waiting on this letter to arrive because I made the decision that I wouldn't book my hotel/his flight until we had it in hand... but it won't arriiiiiiive. :(

Has anyone received their letter yet, or am I being unrealistic in thinking that it'll arrive this week?

Also,

parking at hotels... I know most of you are taking the train/bus/whathaveyou, but we wanted to trek the drive... Do most hotels charge parking fees, or is it just the one I fell in love with that does? Haha.

We haven't recieved our letter but I already booked my flight and arranged for babysitting for my daughters.

I am sure it will come in the mail any day now!

On a side note . . .

Sean is on a plane to come see me right now!!

He gets in at 3:30 and is staying until Wednesday. He said the BP seemed "hesitant" and told him "not to screw up" when he said he was coming to visit his fiance. They never say anything to him, and even though he had a copy of his NOA1, NOA2, P3 letter, school schedule, etc. they never asked for it (even with the comment about "not screwing up").

Hang in there, You should get the interview letter soon. I think alot of people here are in the same boat (they have an interview date, but no letter). When I got my date, I received an email with the interview letter the same day...but they seem like they are slower now since alot of ppl havent received them. I would suggest calling NVC and telling them you havent received it yet but you were given a date last time you called. Just to be on the safe side.

As per parking, Most hotels do charge for parking. Some have parking but is usually full so you have to find another lot. I think average charge for parking by hotels is 20 bucks.

Good Luck!

We're staying for the weekend. We'll also be staying at the Dauphin. Varba wants me to "show" him around Montreal... I've only been there 3 times.

We will be too! The fiance said we might as well make a honeymoon out of this trip  In a way, it appears more prudent to leave as soon as we finish the interview but we're already in Montreal and we havent seen each other since September, so YEAH!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Where you staying?

I think either Hotel le Roberval or La Tour Centre Ville. Roberval is not as close but its a 15 minute walk and seemed to do decent on Trip Advisor.

I havent booked yet and we're still considering going a bit further but thoughts of subway problems have been plaguing my mind so maybe we'll stay close by.

J is driving up days before, we're driving together, then he's driving back to Boston from Montreal and I'm taking the train back to Toronto. We get to visit before the interview, which will be good, we can chat and make sure we're mentally prepared. Le Dauphin here.

I'm just taking care of the last pieces of evidence. Including making sure J has all the Affidavit of Support stuff. It's so soon...! I'm in the process of giving my three employers notice. 2/3 have taken it well, 1 to go! : )

OK. I have no time at the moment to update the list, but someone said to put them in there for the second week in November. If someone would be so kind...
