I was wondering if someone could help me with this question? I just received the hard copy of my NOA2 in the mail. I am getting all of the original documents as well as the affidavit of support together to send to my fiance in South Korea. He already has his Birth Certificate and Police Reports. What I was wondering is does he have to wait until he receives packet 3 to schedule the Medical, or can he go ahead and schedule it now? Anyone help with this question would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....

To schedule the medical in the UK you need the NVC reference number (which includes your country code - mine was LNDXXXXXXX - where LND = London)

They won't take the NOA2/USCIS code AFAIK tho I know some people once they get their NVC code have gone ahead and booked the medical and they didn't wait for packet 3.

Sept 2002 - 1st US visit - everything goes perfectly.

Dec 20th - Forms recev'd at CSC

Dec 27th - NOA1 received by snail mail!

Dec 29th - 'Touched'

March 10 2006 - NOA2!

March 23 - recv'd at NVC

March 24 - petition sent to London

April 9th - Pkt 3 rec'd!

May 17th - Pkt 3 signed for at London Embassy

May 24th - Medical

May24th - Pkt 4

June 14th - Interview 10am - APPROVED 1pm!!

June 16th - Visas received in my hot little hands 1pm :)

July 19th - flying to US!

July 27th - Married!! :-)

Aug 7th - Applied for SSN in married name

Aug 9th - SSN received

I would wait for package 3 since there are all the required documents in there and also the list of docters. There might be some changes in between. You usually get the appointment anyway in a couple of weeks and if you are in a very hury, than you can go to the doctor on the same day you have the interview.

I called the US consulat in Germany and they gave me this information:

You can go to your medical before you get your Pack3.

The medical expires if it was more than 6 months before you enter the US.

But it as to be at least 6 weeks before you enter them.

In Germany the CIS receipt number is enough and you might even get your NVC case number by calling or emailing to NVC.

Each consulate/Embassy handles it differently. You should contact the correct embassy and ask the question or go online to the embassy site as many will give you very specific instructions as to what you can and can not do.
