DV Lottery bad effect

Hi,

The DV lottery opened up a few weeks ago, my k1 Visa is at the consulate stage and we just recieved packet number 3

Does anyone know if it will be a bad thing if I apply for the DV lottery for my fiance? Someone is telling me that if the embassy finds out about it it will have a negative effect because they will think ur sole reason for the k1 visa is to migrate to America, I look at it as doing anything u can to be with the person u love

Someone could have a point, especially in a high fraud country. In theory applying for multiple visas, particularly visitor or tourist visas makes no difference. The DV is an immigrant visa along with the K-1 being dual intent it could look that way to certain consulates, especially when the K visa is a virtual slam dunk if you can demonstrate ytou have a legitimate relationship.

Seems like you are pretty close to acheiveing your goal now, what would be the positive purpose of filing for the DV?

IDK just that nothing is really guaranteed and your fate is basically in the hand of the interviewer...

I see where you are coming from though
