My wonderful boyfriend got a full time job which means we're on our way to our living together. I have been struggling to find a job, mainly clerical type, and I found one that was for college directories. I thought it was just taking calls but it turns out I call people too. It's not cold calling if they wanted to be on the list, I was told. So I am there basically all day until the night and I can't see my boyfriend at all. When I wake up in the morning, he's working, when I get home, he's sleeping. I have been mainly sad because I miss him like nothing else. I am trying to look for a new job with better hours and good pay but it has been so frustrating. I have interviewed for another job but haven't heard from them at all. I haven't received any letter stating I didn't get the job and I haven't received a call saying I got it. It has been more than 2 weeks. I went to another today and the guy set me up for interview later in the afternoon but when I came back, he failed to mention more details to the job I thought looked good. So I wasted my time with him. I sometimes don't like applying online because how do I know they'll actually look at my resume? I sent another business a resume online but got an automated response. I do not know if this trouble is because

a) my resume isn't good.

b Impatience on my part.

c) Most jobs around here are crappy.

I have a headache from all this mess and I miss my boyfriend so much. :crying:

My fiancé and I have been down that road about not getting to spend time together. Sucks. Luckily, after I came back from India, he got a job working 2p-10p his time, and then I got another job working 2p-10p my time. So, it works out to where, I am sleeping while he is working, he is sleeping while I am working, and we have a few hours to spend together, in between.

Thanks. It's more comforting that I am not the only one and you're getting through it. I have sent my cv to a few other places with better hours. My boyfriend was angry with me for being too bratty yesterday. We made up and we're making this work.

I'm on the same boat, hubby works nights (5PM - 5AM) and I work rotating shifts between 7AM - 10PM. It sucks that we don't have time together during weekdays, so we try to make the most out of our weekends. I like my current job, and hubby just could not find anything better around here (he's been in this company for 14 years !). I don't really have any suggestions for you other than to let you know that I know how you feel. (F)

Re. finding new job, it highly depends on the area where you live, you will have more opportunities in bigger cities. Re. the hours, it depends on what kind of job that you are looking for, in some jobs you need to crawl from the bottom ladder, meaning that when you are new, you will have to work sh!tty hours and you will be able to move to more favorable hours once you gain your seniority. Be patient and keep your eyes open, you will find your dream job soon !!

Addy, I'm a little confused....are you engaged? Which one of you is the non-USC? And are you both stateside now?

With my situation, I'm more of a fit in UK Yankee. I am already a member in there. We are not planning to marry anytime soon. We're both scratched for the money and we need the money first to get the necessities. He just got a full time job being an engineer thanks to a friend of his for recommending him.

I am a citizen in Texas and he's my welshman. I decided to follow him to wales and live with him so we're going through the hard parts first.

I came here to VJ wondering who can help or point me towards the right direction and ran into a fellow pal named TracyTN. We knew each other in other boards and the people here are friendly so I stayed. :)

Aww addy. Hugs. (F) I hadn't heard from ya in a bit so I was hoping you were feverishly busy w/ a new job.

I wish I had some advice to give you, but yet again, I'm coming up empty, my friend. You and Dan deserve to be together sooner rather than later. :(
