For IR-1 application, one needs to show the financial ability to support the beneficiary. I own a company that pays myself a fixed salary (technically - does this mean self-employed?). In terms of showing my income level past and present, would that be based on the revenue for the company or the salary I draw?

depends on the company type.

If sole propriatorship, not incorporated, then IMO it's the revenue for the company. - and then technically you are 'self-employed'.

If yer incorporated, then it SHOULD be based on salary. - and you are NOT self-employed - you are 1) a company owner and 2) an employee of the company.

I have a corporation, and never took a salary. So my 'personal assets' for the I-864 were CASH that I received as a dividend payment. It's a lot o cash, the taxes were weird, but nothing untoward.

You ever get around to filling in yer timeline?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
