Hi everyone, this is just a quick "hi" as I don't actually plan on filing to live in the US right now, thats a little further down the line. I just have a question about something related to that so thought it best to join up now.

I'm currently in the UK, my fiancé has dual nationality (US/Canadian) and since all his ties are to Canada (and thats where he is at the moment) it seems the best option. Also it appears to be a lot simpler and faster than the US way...theoretically lol.

We have had a real nightmare of a time including him being refused entry to the UK for a visit (the immigration officer-who I spoke with-believed him to only have a one way ticket. Of course he had a return, it was an e-ticket and in the airline's computer, but I feel the IO didn't want to lose face by admitting his mistake when I told him this). He was actually pretty rude to me too, as if knowing someone via the internet didn't constiture a "real" relationship in his eyes. Even though we were put in touch by a real person lol the fact we communicated that way appeared to be a problem. Oh and then we had the jealous female relative of his that put us in touch try her hardest to split us up and cause all sorts of trouble when her husband unexpectedly departed...real Jerry Springer stuff it was...I could write a book lol...So getting together properly asap is our priority. Before we end up going

Anyway, keep up the good work everyone and I'll be lurking around here even if I'm not posting

Wow. It seems like you have overcome a lot of adversity. I believe it only makes these trans-Atlantic relationships stronger.

Welcome to VJ, I have found answers to every single question I had on here and when I needed to know something else, the members are so helpful. We're all in this together, especially the Brits on here.

Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

I live in New Hampshire and have visited Canada a few times, only Quebec though, I found it really beautiful.

Post, post, post!

Howdy!

Ah yes, good old Quebec...thats actually where I'm heading. I'm off to the absolute middle of nowhere, even the polar bears have to stop and ask for directions lol. Don't even get me started on Q's bizarre rules, theres even an extra stage to the immigration process if you go there...they even dictate when you can and can't use your husbands name, on anything official like passports, loans etc a woman has to use her birth name

Oh yes, I can see me writing a book about my escapades...

I do love this site tho, can't imagine how people functioned before the internet.

omg you poor woman ,, does sound like jerry springer stuff here and sounds like they being so stupid not to allow him to come and visit , so what if u only talked on net, this is the part thatmakes me crazy with these peoples minds, cause they see a couple been livin together for a year and think wow this is real good couple, but this couple could be in same house for year and maybe talk 10 minutes a day and thats it, when we talk to our loved ones on net, its one on one conversation that can last for hours on end, no interuptions, not sitting there for 2 hours and watching a movie and ot saying a word, its real one on one talking, who are they to judge its not real or not , and as far as the one trying to break ya up, he should mind his own buisness u know? anyway good luck to ya, and this is only my opinion,,, take care
