My husband and I have our interview in Montreal on Aug 21. I just received packet 4 in the mail today. They requested that I bring tax information for the most recent tax filling year. When I filed the 864, the most recent taxes were 2004. In addition, my parents are joint sponsoring since I am a full time graduate student and don't make enough money. I have no problem getting a copy of my parent's 2005 taxes. HOWEVER, I did not file 2005 taxes for myself. Will I need a letter from the IRS or from somebody [my accountant] regarding my not filing for the most recent tax year?? I just want to be prepared for the interview.

Thanks.

I cannot obtain a 1040EZ for the 2005 tax year because I have like no income. I am a full time graduate student living off of graduate fellowship money, loans, and scholarship... but no income to really account for. Should I be bringing anything with me to the interview for the lack of this tax form? My parents taxes will accompany me.

Thanks again.

You can merely write a letter stating that you did not file a 2005 tax return since your income was less than the IRS filing guidelines...

i'm in the same boat as you, stephie; i did what zyggy states below, and then just printed out the 'filing requirements' page, highlighting where it states you don't have to file if you don't meet the income requirements.
