Hi everybody,

I FINALLY received my Permanent Resident Card couple days ago, that expires in 2011.

Does anyone know if this will allow me to travel abroad without a travel visa?

And what happens after the 2011 expiration?

Thanks

You now have a 2yr Green card for a Conditional Resident. It is what gets you back into the US after your travels. You always could travel anywhere you wanted. It was the return to the US that was the problem. The green card resolves that. If a country requires you to have a VISA, you still need to get one. The Green Card does not give you the ability to avoid Visas. After 2011, you apply to Remove Conditions which gets you a 10yr Green Card.

if you travel to canada you only need your GC and passport, but for other countries you will need a travel visa.

you need to remove your conditions 90 days prior to the expiration of your GC and get a 10 year GC.

Just Canada? My husband and I are traveling to New Zealand, his home country, in November. He can travel on his green card, am I right? You would only NEED a travel visa if you were going to a country that already requires it.

For going to a certain country, she will need a travel visa if the country doesn't have VWP for Japanese citizens.

For coming back to the US, she needs just her passport and GC.
