Hmm, I wonder how they reconcile these statues with the following in the Bible:

Exodus 20:4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Exdus 34:17 17 You shall not make cast idols.

and

Deuteronomy 5:8 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

I'm Catholic and we have all kinds of statues of Jesus and the Saints. The statues or statuettes are only to symbolize, not to be worshiped.
