Dear Friends, Thank you very much for your responses, Its good to know there are good people who wants to help and give advices. I have some more questions about police certificate.

I have been in Canada for 9 months(I am currently living in Turkey), so do I need a police certificate from Canada? I was reading the K-1 Visa Instructions and It said: Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year

I need your advices.

I don't really know how to say this without coming off sounding like a jerk, but since 9 months is shorter than a year, no you do not need it.

Remember that the one year is total time. If you have stayed in Canada at any other time and the total time comes to more than a year you need a police certificate.

Some people may disagree with me but I have seen at least two posts in last six months where people had never stayed a year at one time in a country but total time came to more than a year and they were required to get police certificate.

Police certificates in all names as well as all dates of birth ever used. Police certificate must contain references to each place (subject to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation) in which the applicant lives or has lived for more than six months since attaining the age of 16. This includes localities where applicants have lived during university studies. If the applicant was on military service, he/she should bring the certificate from the local draft board. If an applicant has lived abroad for more than one year, a police certificate must also be submitted from the country in which he/she lived. Police certificate validity is one year since the date of issuance.

i found that on the russian embassy homepage... i think it is the same in every country

Police certificates are required from every visa applicant aged 16 years or over for each locality of the country of the applicant‹s nationality or current residence where the applicant has resided for at least six months since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year.

If you or accompanying member(s) of your family applying for a visa have resided in another country or countries, certificates covering residences of twelve months or more must be obtained (the period is six months if country of birth or current nationality). Generally, application for such certificates should be made directly to police authorities in the district in which you resided. If you have any questions about where or how to apply for police certificates in other countries you may communicate directly with this office via post.

Here is what the London embassy says.
