I am currently in the immigration process with the I-485, I-130, and Employment authorization, which by the way I received word I'd be getting my employment card in a month. I am originally from Canada and came to Hawaii on vacation to visit my friend and boyfriend. (my boyfriend was coming home from a 15 month tour in Iraq) While traveling I received an I-94 on my passport and had to be back in March which was fine. While spending time with my friend and boyfriend he surprised proposed to me an we decided to get married all in the moment. A few days later we came back to reality and realized there is probably immigration involved between Canada and U.S. We went to the Department of Homeland security and explained our issue and the I-94 would expire, they gave us the proper paperwork and said I shouldn't leave or it would forfeit the paperwork, and that I'd be fine as long as I started the paperwork and it was being processed over the next few months. Now being as curious as I am, I read stories online and it says staying past your expiration on a visitors visa can end up in deportation. Well i was instructed to stay here in America, even though I could have left and done this from Canada? I am really confused and scared and don't want to be parted from my husband.

Can someone with actual knowledge please tell me, if I'm in the green or in trouble? Asap.

Thank you.

I Love You Baby, Always & Forever
