My doctor referred me to a plastic surgeon to get the mole on my face removed. I finally got a phone call from the plastic surgeons office today.

I'm wondering if there will a problem at my interview because I won't have this mole anymore (this mole is not small)? It's present on all my pictures that we've sent it so far, but I can always take new passport size pictures for the interview.

I do plan on asking the doctor to write me a note saying I've had the mole removed.

You can probably understand why I want to get this done before I move, I doubt my fiance's insurance would cover it.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I think the doctors note is a great idea, and will explain everything! That should definitely suffice

I agree, I think a note from the Dr. would be fine if they even noticed.

You're lucky your Canadian insurance is covering it. I really wanted to get a mole removed on my face as well, but I had to pay for it even in Canada so I waited until I moved since it's actually cheaper in the U.S.

It's grown over the past year, so she thinks i should just get it removed. I told her that I wanted a plastic surgeon to do it, so she referred me.

A note from your Dr. is a good idea. I don't think it will cause any issues. I've had several moles removed over the years, not on my face even and it was always a plastic surgeon who did it. One mole I had, on my forearm I had removed because it was a "blue mole". That's not the technical term. It had never changed, but my Dr. in Canada wanted me to have it removed before I moved to the U.S., just because I was going to get a new Dr. and it's a kind of mole every Dr. is always asking questions about and "watching". She thought it would best just to be removed before I moved, and then I wouldn't have to worry about any new Dr. asking questions and monitoring it.

Off topic sort of, but in hindsight I wish I had a plastic surgeon remove 2 moles from my leg! The dermatologist did it, she dug so deep and left scars at both of them  If that had been on my face, I'd be really mad as they are big scars too

Yeah, I had two removed from my back that resulted in "divots" in my skin. They were done by the plastic surgeon as well, so I don't think it had to do with you having had a dermatologist, just maybe how deep the "root" was. If they were on your face, and there were deep, I'm sure you would have been referred to a plastic surgeon in order to minimize the divot after they had healed.
