Hi everyone,

From the shortcut to speed thru NVC, it was advised that "original" documents like Birth Certificate, Marriage Licence, etc...be sent along DS-230 to the NVC from the USA Agent as appointed via DS-3032.

My parents are afraid to send in these "original" documents because they may not be able to replace them if lost.

1) Does NVC return these "original" documents to the USA Agent after they verify them?

2) If NVC does not, does the US Consulate return them after an approved interview (with Visa issued)?

3) Should I send the NVC the "Certified" photocopy of the "original"?

Please advise.

Thank you very much.

You must send the original documents to NVC, they will not complete the case and issue a interview date until they have the original documents.

NVC do not return the documents they are sent to the embassy along with the immigration file and once the imterview is finished they will give the original documents back to your parents.

They will not accept copies it has to be the original.
