I think every person has the right to have their life saved from impending death or harm. Anyone should be able to walk into an Emergency Room at any hospital and not be denied needed treatment because of inability to pay.

Following that line of logic - it makes more sense to treat them before they reach the point of needing emergency care.

What about babies? Your a joke! Thats right, babies arent ppl until their BORN!

So, what about them babies after they're born? Then you guys don't give a ** neither about the child nor the mother. If the child suffers some disease that the parents can't afford to have treated properly then that's on them. ** them and ** that dang child. Pro life my #######.

Now, now ,now, take a deep breath and exhale slowly. It will be fine.

As you know the system we have now will care for any new born child. They wont be thrown out into the dumpster if they are sick. Mom and child will be taken care of until its time to go out on their own, regardless of income.

There are roughly 8 million children in the US today that lack health insurance coverage and access to adequate health care. To sit there and pretend that all children are properly taken care of is ignorant at best. But sure, if it makes you feel good to be "oh so concerned" about the unborn while showing little, if any, concern towards the born children then keep at it.

The thing is, we already have CHIP (Children Health Insurance Programs) programs in most states and the qualifying standards are quite generous. (I don't qualify, but I almost qualify and I meet poverty standards by about 250%, maybe more.)

The thing is that we still have about 8 million children lacking adequate access to health care. Yes, CHIP and SHIP have reduced the number of uninsured children but there's still a residual balance of 8 million children that go without. I always wonder why the supposedly pro-life crowd is always more concerned about the unborn children than they are about those that are born.

And we should also be reminded of whom opposed CHIP legislation from the beginning.Just to beat on that dead horse.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Let me quantify this:

Mom & child will be cared for if they make below a certain income and lack decent employment.

If Mom teeters that income line, or if Mom has a decent job, but no insurance, OR if Mom has insurance, but they decide to pre-ex Mom or child for X-reason or X-condition, Mom & baby could likely get screwed.

The problem is for these people in the middle. They don't make enough money to pay for whatever they need because healthcare costs are so exorbitant, but they overqualify for any government or charitable funding.

Are you really that "out of it"... to not know the poor have full and free coverage?

Before those programs were even in place there were many organizations to help these people, why do you think there are so many Catholic, Baptist, Methodist (etc) hospitals which we all see in every city.

Now tell us where the "planned Parenthood" center is that does anything other than sell abortions to under-age girls.

No really, tell me about the Hospitals the Libs are running to help people.

The healthcare reform debate is not about the poor. As you said, the poor qualify for coverage. It's about the middle. The small-business owners & regular folks who HAVE jobs, PAY taxes, and but still don't make enough $$ to purchase individual coverage (because it is expensive), or they are pre-exed for the conditions they need the coverage for, or their insurance company simply begins denying their claims for x-condition.

Indeed, lots of charitable organizations help people, and that's great. But the people in the middle are still being left out. And the question is: Why should a person who works hard, makes a decent income, pays their taxes, does the best that they can... why should they be forced to depend on charity? Wouldn't it be better to reform healthcare to make it more affordable and transparent? Many people would be able to pay for procedures if they knew in advance how much they cost and why and how to get on an affordable payment plan. Likewise, if a person is getting screwed by the system because of a pre-existing condition and they have to pay out of pocket, why should they be charged thousands more than what is being charged to insurance companies? The fee should be the fee. And if I pay in cash, I should get a discount.

Lastly,

Danno, clearly you have never been to a Planned Parenthood. That is shameful if you think that is all those people do.
