I had my NOA2 approval in late April and my fiancee received her packet from the embassy about 3 weeks later. She filled out the requisite forms and returned them back immediately.

Right now, we're still waiting. :(

I've heard horror stories about apps being recalled for RFEs and what not. Will they notify you via mail that something is needed for the process to continue?

Thank you!

ALSO, what does TOUCHED mean? Dumb question, i'm sure

When did you apply for the visa? Is your NOA1 dated after March 6? (aham, fill your timeline). If so, you will get an RFE due to IMBRA. If so, they'll definitely send you a notice, and if not, you'll get the RFE by mail.

"touched" means that you log onto the uscis.gov website and see some kind of update - sometimes it only shows a different date to an old update you got. Services centers deal with the online updating differently.

As for how long it takes for your fiance to get a packet 4, if you did apply for a K1, it varies from country to country and foreign consulate to foreign consulate. you could check the timelines for your fiance's country on VJ and try and post this question to the Foreign Consulate forum.

By NOA1, I assume the original notice of receipt of my application from the USCIS? That was in December 2005.

And just to make sure, the NOA2 is what I got from the USCIS saying my application was approved and it was being sent off. Right? Thank you so much for the reply.

And I will get cracking on my timeline right now, thank you.

HELLOWORLD,

It means that USCIS updated your Online Status notice, but not necessarily that they changed it. Why the update? No way of knowing.

Not an issue for you now, you've gone beyond that stage.

Thank you!

If there was any need for an RFE, they'd notify either me or my fiancee via mail, correct?

I don't have to call and check for that, do i?

I did call the embassy, and they said nothing about any problems or need for for more information with our case.

Sometimes people get online updates - either by e-mail (if you set this up) or by searching online. Sometimes they don't. Things are a little messed up right now because of IMBRA so some people have been kept in the dark. Either way, should it be an RFE, you'd get it by mail - no doubt about that.

You did the right thing by contacting the embassy handling your fiance's application. I wouldn't worry since they said everything's fine. Also, have a look at the timelines on VJ.

Also, I'm not sure as to up to which point in the process petitioners get RFE's and as to RFE's being sent out by the consulate. I guess they aren't. Hopefully some other VJ will be able to assist you on that.

You should call embassy every day or check their site with dates of interview until you'll get any info on that. Your package could be lost or interview has passed, BOTHER them! Good luck!
