Will visit to USA delay visa?

We are about to submit the application for a K1 visa in the next few days. My understanding is that the process will take approx 6 months when the finacee is from the UK. Obviously we want to visit each other in that time. Will it have any effect on the time the application takes or on the application process if I go over to the US for 1 or 2 weeks then return to the UK while the visa application is being dealt with?

It will not affect your K-1 application at all if you visit the U.S., but you should be aware that you may be denied entry into the U.S. unless you can prove you have strong ties to your home country that prove you will return after your visit.

You should bring such things as your most recent pay stubs, lease or mortgage documents and possibly a letter from your employer stating the date they are expecting you back to work.

If you are asked at the POE if you have a pending K-1, be truthful and say yes, and you are just going to visit your fiance for a week (or however long). Don't offer any information that isn't asked for, but do not lie to the officer either.

You could also consider having your fiance visit you in the UK.

I should add that I visited my fiance (at the time) several times while our K-1 was being processed with no problem, but I was entering by car from Canada. I did get asked from time to time for evidence of my ties to Canada, though.

I also told them I was just going to visit my "boyfriend" and did not mention the K-1 application unless I was asked about it.
