So you're saying you're here because you have a good house, and good living, and a good life.. Hmmmmm...

Thats really an odd reason to live in America.

Personally, if I wasn't earning such a ridiculously high salary and paying such little tax, I would have jumped ship yesterday. Quality of life is nowhere near that of Aus. In hindsight though, I would never have moved here in the beginning and had my wife move over there. Actually, now that the removal of conditions is completed, I am officially starting the process to file for a spousal visa to AUS. I've had to start and stop it before. Just stopped by the embassy the other day.

I always thought the libs were the problem and spent years hating on them. Now I realize it's the repubs who cry murder against any change. It's the repubs who are happy that America aesthetically looks like a second world country (third in some areas like ghettos) but that's okay. Country first right! Strange definition of it. Then again repubs are not exactly the highly educated type are they. After all, an A in a small town would be an D in our area. Many of whom earned a C in their area, so you get my drift.

The post-office isn't ruled by beauracracy (sp) - So Maybe I would accept a public option if it were run privately like the USPS is. You have a point there. The dems want a huge beauracracy.

If its just about insuring the 47 million (many of whom are illegals), then fine - why is the draft bill 1000 pages long and no one has fully read it?

Also, who is running these big innercities? Libs... Who is running all the states in the worse recessions? Libs. Quarterback syndrome? I don't think so. New Orleans was run by libs for something like 40 years before Katrina. Explain that one.

If there ever was a place and time for NHC do you honestly think that right now it that time to try and push this through, considering the economic state of this country

Great Britian began the NHS right after WWII, when their nation was on the verge of bankruptcy.

And after the U.S. had just forgiven them their huge debt to us.

They like to leave out these little nuggets of info when try to make a point.

True. Subsidizing other countries Socialism is an American trait.

Drive by one liner or really believe your own bullcrap? Hmm, that's a teaser.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Which is why UPS and Fed Ex went out of business long ago - just couldn't keep up with the USPS. Oh wait, they both are doing quite well. Something doesn't add up and I'd say it's the assumption.

Funky how people claim - not in this particular case but quite often in the very same sentence - that the government can't do anything right or efficient and yet, somehow private businesses cannot compete with the oh so ineffecient government.

USPS is a phenomenal mail service. One of the best and most efficient I've used.

Not even walmart could deliver a letter anywhere in the country for 44 cents. Which says a lot considering walmart pays their worker close to that per hour.

Actually if you look up the average pay of someone at walmart it is 9.00 per hour. Which is better than a lot of retail outfits such as Target.

Fine lets make the minimum wage 100.00 per hour.. We'll eliminate poverty.

I'll be the first to say that if they try to insure they illegals, the system is finished. Not even the richest country in the world could insure them without going bankrupt.

Now when it comes to smaller governments I disagree with you. I actually believe it is the repubs who want more bureaucracy. After all, who prefers the county rights system? where bureaucratic jobs are replicated in each county. School board, court system, police are replicated in each county and city. Smaller in size but larger in number. Something the communist labeled, artificial job creation. The conservatives back home got rid of that and moved it all to the state level. Counties now only manage local planning and residential issues there. Now that is what we call "smaller government". This also ties into the Katrina point you mentioned. Have a puny city try to protect their area is lunacy. One again, all managed on a stated level back in AUS.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I'll be the first to say you're right, but its the liberal republicans that make up the majority of the party. You're right.

I am with you on smaller government, and managing things on a state level. I just don't see the honesty in the dems that you do.

Possibly true for certain full time staff. However, how many of their employees are part-time and receive peanuts?

No way in the world would they receive more pay than target staff. I actually enjoy going to Target supercenters. Their staff are more relaxed, clean-cut, friendly, helpful and generally much more positive. In certain cases, less feral too.

proof?

who? me?

No.

At least you try to rationalize according to your beliefs. Although I did remind you that telepathy and politics don't go well- at least yet.

If you set a wheel upright on a empty street that is on a hill you don't need telepathy to know what that tire will do.

What?

The UK made its final WWII-related payment to the US in December 2006. It was sort of a big story. It was seen as a loan w/ generous terms, but hardly debt forgiven. Where do you get your information?

Why do people believe that we can insure 40-50 million people overnight without serious repercussions?

These 40-50 million people didn't become uninsured overnight.

For example, the climate act proposes to reduce US greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020,

40 percent by 2030, and by 80 percent by 2050. No-one suggested, "hey, let's do it tomorrow".

Why not take it slow - set coverage targets and gradually expand Medicare to the uninsured?

I have many friends who work at Target - and they're still very close to minimum wage. My friend Sean has had his hours cut down to 20, and he begs to pick up hours. He's been there for 6 years.

From his usual source. That place you need a flashlight and mirror to see.
