This is my first post but have been reading many forums here and want to thank many of you for your helpful posts.

Now, I am scheduled to have an AOS Interview in a week and have a question. I don't believe that we did anything ILLIGAL but for the upcoming interview, I am not sure if we should be open and honest with our feelings about the kind of weddings we had.... We had 2 weddings. One unofficial abroad, the other, official in the US.

I was a F1 visa holder and my husband is US citizen. (but both of us are from Japan)

In March 2009, We had a legal marriage ceremony in the US just by ourselves. This was small, no family members, no wedding dress, just legal and unimpressive, and we only took a few photos.

However, In June 2008, we did our symbolic (not legal) wedding ceremony extravaganza on an European island with family and relatives. From this ceremony, we have many photos with wedding dresses and photos with all of our family members.

The problem is, I left US with F1 visa and reentered with F1 visa. Of course, with F1, I was not supposed to be married! When I asked the attorney before I left for the wedding in Europe, he told me that it wasn't going to be a problem because we were just going for a "vacation".

Did I lie at the immigration? -NO I wasn't asked about the trip at all, or was asked whether I was engaged/married

Was I officially married in Europe? -NO (Of course I did not have the marriage license from US, either)

Did I wear a wedding dress while I was still F1 abroad?-YES

I am wondering what you would think I should do at the upcoming interview. Just never mention about the symbolic wedding I did abroad and say I had 1 wedding in US without wedding dress and family members... (Is this considered not normal?) and say we went to European island for vacation. (not showing any pictures from this)

I have a feeling that I shouldn't be open and honest 100% and show pics from both weddings although of course it is easier for us to be 100% honest about what we went through. But it just makes things complicated.

Please let me know what you think! Thank you.

Lots of people get married in court houses and adjust fine. Seems like showing off the pictures from your European island party is just.....showing off. Save those desires for your friends, and stick to the legally pertinent facts for your interview.

Thank you, Nik+Heather.

I was trying to decided which photos to bring at the interview, and the only photo with my family and his family together with us was at the symbolic ceremony, so this was where the question started... but like you said, I think I will just show the pics from the legal ceremony. If they ask who attended, etc., I guess it wouldn't be a problem saying it was just us, right? Hopefully, this should be easy and simple....

Thanks again for your comment.
