Single Payer? No way we're going to do things efficiently in American health care. It's against the tradition of waste.

You gots to admit government doesn't have a good track record, but given that they created this problem, it is going to take govenment to solve it. And by government, I mean we the people caused this problem.

Again, in the health care arena, the government has a far better track record than the private insurance industry.

Even with the insurance companies, the system is already heavily regulated. It's time to remove all the pretext, and all the profiteers, and move right away to a single payer system. That is the only way to guarrantee 100% registration: If you are not registered, you don't get treated anywhere.

Plus, I know several employers, that if they didn't have to worry about providing healthcare to their employees any more, they would be hiring tomorrow. It's a job program as well. And for those on the right, it would castrate the unions. Everybody wins!

I am all for the single payer system. It's much better than pouring more money down this bottomless barrel that is the current US health case system.

Except the Government has never ever had an efficient program. It will be a huge lumbering bureaucratic nightmare. Do we need to go into all the links from yesterday that showed that medicare was actually worse than private companies on overhead?

The problem with your statement is that you assume the medical issurance companies are like the auto insurance companies. Unless your argument is that all regulations need to be pulled from the medical carriers, then there is no way a free market model is going to apply here. We don't have it now, and there is no chance that the industry will be completely privatized in the future.

Further, as long as the government is a competitor, not a purchaser, via medicare and medicaid, and they set their reimbursement schedules below that of the insurance companies, you don't have a level playing field. Old people and poor people want something for nothing, and private industry gets stuck with the bill. No, it is far better if the government provides all the healthcare and the government figures out how to pay for it, not the citizen, and not the employer. No cadilac plans for unions and executives, while small bussiness has to live with high deductible and heavy copays, and most proceedures come only at fee for service.

The problem with your statement is you saying there is no chance the industry will be completely privatized in the future. That is totally wrong. There is every chance it will become that way.

Please tell me your game plan. And how soon are you going to dump the old, the sick and the feeble out on the streets, cause that is the only way the full privatized model is going to work. If you want to head for Social Darwinism, I am right behind you brother!

Ok here the deal. There is also every chance it will be totally public. There is no way anyone can say there is never any chance.

As for me I think we are headed for total government takeover of all health care. Total nationalization of all hospitals and clinics and anything associated with health care. I hope I am wrong.

Since the deficits are going to be so huge now under the Socialists it could be that they just go totally broke and then we get total privatization. They are counting as usual on future tax monies though to pull them through. Any way we look at it we have to pay for these deficits that our past GOP rang up and the even larger one the Socialists are running up. That means taxes and I hate to say this but I think we should pay our bills.
