DS-156K Headache! :(

Hi All,

I hope this question is not redundant -- I apologize if it is. I received packet 3 yesterday and was instructed to fill out DS-230 Part 1, DS-160 online, DS-156K and DS-156. I have no problems with everything except for DS-156K.

I understand that I just fill the forms out and send it back to Montreal but in DS-156K it says to include birth certificate, police records, evidence of engagement, evidence of support, etc. So I made copies of everything, even the I-134 my fiance prepared. But I dont know to what extent should I provide "evidence of engagement", which in the embassyconsulate forums appears to be "proof of ongoing relationship".

I thought I had to bring this to the interview, but now I am confused because it seems I have to mail it back to Montreal along with my checklist. And exactly how much should I put in? (ie. all our pictures and copies of our cards and letters, etc. like in our original I-129F application?)

I checked the forum and it seems like some people mailed "proof of engagement", other people didnt even include DS-156K, some said not to fill it, some said to fill it and not sign it and keep it for interview. I wonder if the difference is because maybe things have changed this month???? :-P

If you have a very recent encounter about DS-156K, I would appreciate your help in telling me what to attach, etc.

Thank you for your help!!!!

Frances

All you have to do is mail back the checklist and the DS 230 part one back to Montreal.

You bring all the documents on the checklist and the DS 156K and DS 156 with you to Montreal on the day of your interview.

The evidence of engagement would be photos, cards, an engagement ring receipt... similar things that you send in when you filed your K1 petition to Vermont/California.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11
