Oh yes Swenson’s is always a stop for us when I am there my wife. She loves chocolate ice cream, she stop eating chocolate when she was pregnant with chase, she read the chocolate stunts the growth of a baby. Must have worked, Chase is 6m and wears 12m clothing and I am talking USA sizes not Thai.

Speaking of food: Anthony Bourdain is FINALLY going to Thailand!!! :dancing: :joy: :dancing:

Don't know if anyone watches his program on Travel Channel, but I love watching his show and seeing all the places he goes and the food he eats. He has been to just about every place possible in Asia (along with other parts of the world and the US), EXCEPT Thailand. I was starting to get pissed off, and even made comments on his Travel Channel web site!

Next Monday, at 10 PM EST, Travel Channel will air "No Reservations" and Tony will be in Thailand.

I am really looking forward to seeing this show. Tony doesn't mix words, and is very adventurous when it comes to food. He drinks, he swears, and he knows how to have a good time.

Check it out!

Is he a secret agent like Julia Child was?

It's about time he's coming to Thailand.

Tourism needs any kind of jump-start it can get,

but I hope to find cheap accommodations & uncrowded beaches

on my next trip...

Love his shows too. Hadn't realized he hadn't been to Thailand yet (had seen Zimmerman's show there, but definitely prefer Tony's shows).

I'll definitely have to DVR the show. Rin and I will be in Thailand for two weeks next month ( ) and maybe we can find a few hidden gems from it.

There's a seedy side of Bangkok? ;)

We went back in March for two weeks, as well. Haven't made a list of dates, but between the passports and my expense reports, it won't be hard to recreate.

We are fortunate that I travel at least twice a year to Asia (and have been able to get her free tickets - although this time we have to go to Singapore first for a few days - cost twice as many miles for a ticket direct to Bangkok). Also lucky to have built-in babysitting for Rin's children as my daughters (age 20 and 22) are here in Memphis!

I really don't like Sizzler in BKK. Does not taste the same as USA. I love to eating at Au Bon Pain & Starbucks for lunch. We also go to Siam Paragon food court and eat, we got to two place's, one for Nan to eat and then one for me. Never found a place that has food we both like on the menu. Hope I find some good places we can eat when we go to phuket. I was at KFC one time when my sister and her husband came with me on one trip. That was a trip I will never forget. They could not handle being in a 3rd world at all and could not get over how some people live.

Among the many (and I stress many) non-linear experiences I've had in Thailand was our trip to the Sizzler Steak House. We ordered steaks and they were out of them!

We're looking forward to the Travel Channel show on Monday. Or at least I am.

Cheers,

dvd
