Looking to see from any current wives from Belarus who have traveled back to Belarus with a green card. My wife and daughter are going to travel back to Belarus to get their passports updated and changed into the married name as that is the name on her green card. We were going to go thru the embassy here in the US but they are saying it may take six months. Wehave tried to contact the passport control office in Minsk and they are telling us that even though they have green cards this only allows them entry into the US and that they would still have to apply for a travel visa thru Belarus to get out of that country. This just don't sound rite to me. I'm a bit apprehensive about letting them go back and then them getting stuck in Belarus caught up in red tape there trying to get back. Any help or comments from people who have experieced this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tracy
