Hello everybody. My husband filed for K3. I Want to ask when can I start doing the Medical and CFO, I know we are required to do that before leaving our beloved country. Is CFO different from PDOS? If yes should I attend both? With the medical thing.... do I have to wait something from our Embassy to have my medical done? I mean are they the one who make the appointment to the Hospital? And the things I need to prepare for medical. And any tips with doing the CFO and Medical will be very much APPRECIATED. Thank you guys. PINAY ROCKS!!!!

Hi May2.

Kindly click on the link called Immigration Timelines above and create your K3 timeline.

The Embassy will send you instructions on when you must do your medical exam and attend the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) at the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO). They will not schedule the medical exam...you will. You cannot do the medical or PDOS in advance.

If you do not have a Philippine passport in your married name, you must go to CFO to attend a counselling session for spouses of foreign nationals (for this, you can see CFO anytime --- visit their website for more information: http://www.cfo.gov.ph/fs_manila.htm). They will issue you a certificate of attendance, and you will present that certificate to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), along with other documents they may require, when you apply for your passport.

If you do a search on the Forum, you will find more than one post about what to expect during the medical exam (with pictures) and how to prepare for your interview.

Thank you for reminding me about the time line, I have my passport with my married name now. After getting the NOA2 how advance is advance to do the Medical? Like can I have it done before a month before the interview? And please guide me how to do the DS forms, when should I pay and what to expect to have after paying, I really want to prepare everything, and this is the only thing I know to help my husband to make this journey easy for us. Research, research. research.

Thanks Again

May2
