I am curious to know how long my wife, who is from Canada, can stay in the us with me , and we file the k-3,before she has to go home to Canada. Basically how long after the marriage can she stay in the us before she has to go home.

6 months and not a day over. Make sure that she brings proof of strong ties to Canada if she is heading over. If she is already in the US then enjoy your time today. Just make that she returns before the 6 month period has ended.

It's 180 days from entry, so make sure that number is correct, and don't just go by "6 months". If you're wanting to marry before she returns to Canada, after marriage, fill in the paperwork, and read the guides above as to CR-1, and not the K-3, which are running around the same waiting time now, and will her a GC immediately after entering so that she can work. Read...read...read.
