I am just asking for some advice in the whole K1 Visa process. I am not exactly sure of everything since I am new to the forums.

So any help would be appreciated as to where I should go next, and what I should do.

We did the interview in her home country, filed all the paperwork there with the help of a lawyer ( I can't remember any of the files I think we filed a 129-f? )

She came here late 2008, we got married with in the 3 months, filed for the I-864, I-131, I-765, and I-485.

We got the receipts(NOA1?) for I-131, I-765 and I-485

We went for the biometrics.

We got a request for initial evidence last month which has already been sent off.

Basically I am just following their instructions. Can anyone here give me any tips or anything on what to do? When I should file for naturalization? anything else I should file for before naturalization? Are there supposed to be anymore appointments after her biometrics? any help would be great. Thanks.

You've already entered the US on your K1 visa, and have moved to the next phase of the process (AOS).

The K visa essentially serves you no purpose anymore, except when you have to tell someone which visa type you used to enter the US.

ETA you'd send it to wherever the I 485 told you to - which should have been the Chicago lockbox.

Lee's Summit is the NBC (National Benefits Center) where your EAD and AP will be processed. Did you get an RFE on one of those two?

Lee's Summit is where your applications are being processed. If you have received the EAD, there is nothing further for you to do until you receive it and also word on the interview. Naturalization is a few years off.

So far we have not received an EAD because of the initial evidence request, but we should be getting it soon we Pray. We got an RFE on the I-485 which stopped the whole process for the time being until we sent the information in which has already been sent.

Next step for you is they will resume processing the case. The I-485 for the green card could be transferred to California Service Center. They will send you a letter and tell you. In that case you wait for them to process your case, approve you and mail the green card to you. Or your case could be transferred to a local USCIS center near your hometown. An interview will be scheduled and they will send you a letter telling you when it is. Husband and wife both attend the interview. You take evidence of your joint life to prove you are a bonafide, in love, married couple sharing a life. So to prepare for an interview get some things gathered in your joint names like proof of joint bank account, both names on a lease, car insurance, anything showing both names as husband and wife. Print some pictures of you together with friends or family...maybe the day you married...maybe a holiday together. If your case gets transferred to CSC, then you won't have an interview, unless they decide to transfer it back to a local office. You could still get another RFE if, when they start going through your case to approve, they find things they have questions about. You first RFE was for initial evidence, meaning they didn't have all the required documents to get your file going. Mainly you wait to hear from them for the rest of the process.

Your green card will be a 2 year conditional one, so 3 months before it expires, you get to do more paperwork to apply for the 10 year card. You will be a legal (or lawful) permanent resident (LPR) of the USA. To be a citizen requires the naturalization process...more time, money, and forms several years down the road.
