We have a a 6 month old son and not into parties and drinking.

No drinking and partying? What are you saying? So you dont like to have fun? Not that there is anything wrong with drinking and partying.

Maybe stay in Phuket town. Maybe Kata or Kata noi. The last two are a little bit more expensive. If you want to stay away from the craziness, don't go to Patong.

Rin and I stayed at the Marriott resort there. It is on the north end of the island away from everything (although only about 5 - 10 minutes from the airport). Very nice resort, but far (30 minutes) from Kata, Karon, Patong, and Phuket Town. The Marriott also has their Vacation Club there, which has two and three bedroom apartments. Rin and I like to go out for dinner, a few drinks, and a little dancing, so we probably wouldn't stay there again if it was just the two of us. If we took the children, then we would definitely stay there.

She love bargaining with the street vendor, site seeing and the shows. I think Nan always want to go they and she want to go before heading to America to live. Looking at the cost its just the airfare from BKK and that is really cheap and we would spend the same amount of money if we stayed in BKK. We always eat dinner at two places  One for her and one for me, We dont like each other food. Maybe there are some good place that have food that we can both eat.

We stayed last year at the Club Bamboo - http://www.clubbamboo.com/en-GB/resort-location.html

It's just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Patong, and the beach, but it's not right down in the thick of the crowds and noise.

Rather, it's at the far end of the beach area, and about 500 yards up the hill. It's walkable to the beach, although it's easier to take their shuttle service or a taxi.

It's nice, clean, has a pool, gardens, decent breakfast as I recall. The rooms are fine.

By the way, I do my hotel bookings on agoda.com - they have good prices and a pretty good members-reward program.

Look nice and have some good packages that I know Nan want to go see. She want to have a nice romantic trip.

The stairs scare me a little, as we will have a baby carriage!

We went to see the Simon Cabaret - http://www.phuket-simoncabaret.com/

Great khatoey show! We really enjoyed it. Not sure about taking the baby along however....

Fabulous! She's been here 2 months, and adapting really well. We live walking distance to shopping and public transit into downtown Chicago. We bought her an iPhone with built in GPS and maps, and she's become quite independent, taking trains on her own, going shopping, etc. It's been like a dream come true having her here, and I find myself pinching myself and wondering if it's really true that she's finally here! Thanks for asking :)

Oh your POE has July, How has she been here 2 months ?

I always think how will Nan take to life in America. She is very independent and has lived on her own in BKK for many year. So I don't think she will get home sick. She always told me all she want it to talk Thai to someone from time to time. I got Vontage with unlimited Asia calls. she can call home any time she like. I like it I call her every day to wake her up.

Glad to hear all is working out with you and your wife..
