Good morning

I have had to obtain a Police Check for time spent in Germany. This has now arrived but it is obviously in German.

Do I have to provide a translation for this or will the official German document be ok by itself?

Just double checking everything.... again! :reading:

Best wishes

Richard

Hey Richard,

If your case is being processed in the UK, you will need to have the documents translated into English. Anyone competent in English and German can do the translation. The translator would need to certify that he/she is competent in those languages.

Richard, you need to get it translated. My mom contacted a local greman language teacher and got him to do the translation. Make sure you take a few copies of the police certificate and the translation just incase it goes missing.

Thanks for the info guys.

The waiting for NOA-2 has ensured that I am VERY well prepared!

It is amazing how many little things slip through the net and could actually be spoilers further down the line.

I have found a German Translator so hopefully that will be in place this week.

Still amazed to see that there is so little movement on the NOA-2 front for so many people. But the encouraging thing is that we are all on hold rather than just one of us suspecting a 'problem'.

Typical day for the Village Summer Show here. Been raining all night, and today its sunny, windy and rain is forecast at 3pm!

I am sorry to hear you are still waiting for that NOA2, We were so lucky to get my parents NOA2 very fast, we were in total shock when we got them in the mail.

You are doing the right thing double checking everything to be as ready as possible for the NVC stage. I had traveled back to the UK for Christmas and was able to get all the paperwork signed by my parents at that time and Mom have been collecting all the documents since last year, so all I had to do was sort it all out and photocopy the 2 packets and then mail them at the right time.

By the time we mailed in the I-130 to USCIS all we had still to do was get their police certificates and their medical. I know that my parents are getting nervious as they only have 10 days until their interview in london, Things have happened so fast for them in the last month, from going to london for their medicals, finding a buyer for their house and getting ready to move out and I think for mom the hardest thing has been to sort out 65+ years of personal effects and deciding what must come to the US and what she will have to part with.

They have already booked their flights over for Aug 7, I wasa bit worried about that but the tickets are movable for a small fee if they need to change the date.

Enjoy this quite spell for once that NOA2 arrives it is all go.. and before you know it you will be on that flight to your new home..

Hi Tay

We cannot complain really about the time it has taken. Following the birth of our Grandson last August we made the decision to move. We had the small matter of our daughter having to apply for Citizenship first!

She applied in September 2008 and was sworn-in at the end of April 2009. Our I-130 was submitted the same day.

We have as such been waiting for 10 months after starting from scratch!

We have been doing bootfairs weekly to get rid of unwanted stuff. We have had all our removal quotes so we are pretty well set. As soon as that NOA-2 arrives we will go into overdrive!

Funny thing though is that many people, including us, are concerned about the medical. What are the show-stoppers at the medical in London?

I would hate to bang my toe, limp into the medical and get kicked out! So what are the things they are looking for?

Well have a good Sunday. We are sat watching the Open Golf, tough life!

Best wishes to all

Richard

When my parents went to London for their medical, they said it was very easy, they both had got letters from their G.P as my dad is diabetic and mom has thyroid problems. The letter just outlined what treatment they were having and that their conditions were stable.

My parents were asked a few questions about their health history but not much and they were done in under 1 hour. I think the main thing they are looking for is mental health issues and contagious infections, drug use.

Guys I need some more advice about the translation.

I have had several quotes for this to be done. However I spoke to the US Embassy twice this morning and they came up with different answers.

One said that the document just has to be translated.

The other said that it has to be signed by a notary. I asked what this is and the chap replied 'I don't know and it is not for me to explain'.

Now it is going to be relatively easy to get the translation.

The question is, does it have to be notarized?

I have a friend in Florida who could actually do this and send it to my daughter who will be submitting the DS230.

Any advice would be hugely welcome.

Best wishes

Richard

My Moms greman police certificate was translated by a local german teacher. She did not have it notarized. Mom used this from VJ for the translator to complete.

You never cease to amaze me!

Many thanks for that. I shall forward the text to my translator and ask her to add it to the end.

Another box ticked!
