Hi,

I’ve heard about Aeroporto Othon Hotel, which is very near the Santos Dumont Airport and also near the consulate in Rio. They have reasonable prices, around U$ 77.00, including breakfast. In fact I’m going to my interview this Wednesday and I’m staying at this hotel.

Aeroporto Othon Hotel

Avenida Beira Mar, 280 – Centro

I stayed there 4 months ago for work (only 1 day) . Santos Dumont is the domestic airport that is near there and walking distance. Is a decent hotel - nice peple. My flight was delayd (as usual in Brasil) so they let me stay longer than the chekout time - have a good restaurant too. Great view of the bay and good service.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .

I stayed at Itajuba Hotel... it's 2 km from the Airport Santos Dumont and very close to the embassy too... it's a good hotel... It's cheaper than Aeroporto Othon and they also serve breakfast.

Hi! We had a Monday interview so we met in Rio on the Saturday before. Since the visa takes 2 days to receive we could not pick it up until the Wednesday following the interview and I booked a flight home on the Thursday - with all that we needed to spend 5 nights in Rio so I rented an apartment. If you stay that long apartments are cheaper and more reasonble than hotels. Plus you can cook your own food so you save some on eating out.

There are a wide range of apartments available and we rented through www.riorentals4less.com. They were very helpful, legitimate and professional. I went more upscale than would be necessary and we had a GREAT, modern apartment 1 block from the beach - total cost $350 for 5 nights. You can do it for less and still have a very nice place.

Good luck and have a great time!!!

Hi Steph!!!

The day I had my interview, the CO said to me to come back on the NEXT day to get my passport, so it depends on the day, I guess...

Like Lisz said, the hotel I stayed in was R$75 (US$35) with breakfast and was very good...

Take a look on the website: www.hotelmontecastelo.com.br

Good luck for you and Renato!!!

Like Lisz said, the hotel I stayed in was R$75 (US$35) with breakfast and was very good... I don't really think its worth to stay to wait for the passport... They charge you around R$50-70 to send it by courier (which takes 2 days to receive it).

Take a look on the website: www.hotelmontecastelo.com.br

I'm not sure, but I think they will mail his passport to his address, I can't remember... But I think there's the option (when filling the papers for the courier service) of address to send it, so, just ask to the lady in the window and I think she will let you do it...

Good luck for you and Renato!!!
