Doeas anyone have the phone number for the US embassy in London? and do you think 16 days after sending of packet 3 stuff is too soon to call them and ask if I have been assigned a date? Just that I need to make work related travel plans which I will have to plan around the date given to me by the embassy.

I do remeber another thread where a VJer reported calling the embassy about the date of her interview and actually being given a choice of dates over the phone.....

It took us nearly a month to have packet 4 from the Embassy, so I guess that the answer to your question is yes.. It might be too soon to call them. I suggest to send them an email.

I have never heard of anyone calling the Embassy and being given a choice of dates... But it might have happened...

Good luck!

I think the phone # for the London Embassy is 020 7499-9000....but I wouldn't phone them as it is a premium rate number (the last I heard it was about 1.60p a minute) and when I tried to call them I had to listen to 5+ minutes of recorded rubbish then had to do the keypad options etc., If I remember correctly, I was up to about 10mins and hadn't even spoken to a human! In the end I hung up and sent an email...it took a few days for them to reply, but it answered my questions and didn't cost an arm and a leg

I would say never phone them. Write to them via snail mail if all else fails but callign them is pretty much pointless from my experience. I got a human being briefly who sent me straight back to a recording on the actual number and the other number was a Glasgow call centre who could not help me at all. Email is best way to contact them.

Just got a reply to e-mail which said...

No further action can be taken on your application until the Immigrant

Visa Unit is in receipt of the document checklist form IV-15. If you

have already sent this form, please note that there is a delay of

approximately 4 weeks from the date on which the forms are mailed to

this office and the applicant's file is update.

I did send the checklist in 2 weeks ago. So replied to say I had done so and that if they had not received it to please let me know so that I could send in another ckecklist......

Man! timing is getting tight. I have to fit in 6 weeks of final data collection for my PhD in the Dominican Republic before the wedding on the 21st October. Dum de dum..... Of course cannot buy any flights yet.

so I gave in and called!! and it was relatively painless... I called 09042 450100 and selected option 2 and was speaking to someone immediately. A very nice scottish sounding lady.

Anyway she informaed me that the system is still not showing up receipt of my checklist so on her recommendation I have done two things:

1. sent an e-mail explaining why I urgently need to hear of my interview date (she gave me a ref to put on the subject line)

2. I sent a letter with similar information signed listing the items on the checklist I had in my possession. Running off now to send that recorded delivery.
