I have a rough time trying to get through to her cell and when we DO get a connection it is not very clear at all. I get the 'All circuits are busy' message a lot. I can currently send her text messages fine but for a real phone call she sometimes has to go outside for a better and more clear signal...

Has anyone tried using the PLDT landline sim card with their GMS mobile phone yet and can they tell me if it really works as advertised or if this is just another gimic to sell more phone accesories?

http://max.limpag.com/2008/03/13/pldt-land...-sim-gsm-smart/

She has no landline currently and this 'seemed' like it might allow us a more clear connection. It would cost @P500 or so to try it out and we did not want to waste the money if this was garbage.

I have tried to get her to just install the Yahoo messenger 9.0 so we can use the phone-over-internet thing but... The laptop she uses is owned by her employer and she does not get to use it whenever she pleases, also her boss may not like her installing extra software on their laptop... I TRIED to go this route to save money...

Any other ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated here as well.

I just want to be able to reliably call her at her workplace/home and be able to have a fairly clear and reliable connection without having to depend on her using her employers laptop.

Thanks for any and all help here VJ'ers!!!

She cant use the pldt landline sim to her gsm phone , there are other phone companies here that offer wireless land line, pldt and bayantel , she can bring it with her to work , though it is going to be bulky ; as for her cell phone , maybe problem with her network ; she can try and subscribe to globe , clear signal , that is what I use , and globe has tipid idd calls , for 100 pesos, you get 40 minutes of airtime . it is cheaper, so he can call you .

hope this one helps.

good luck to you both.

I agree. That is what my fiance has too, Globe and those IDD cards are great. It's a lot cheaper and the line is clear..most of the time.

Thanks a bunch for that help!

She does currently have a Globe phone (that is the one I have been calling) so I guess we will just have to learn to deal with signal issues but the info about the IDD cards is awesome to know! :star:

I was using a calling card at roughly 13 to 14 cents per minute and if my math was right the IDD cards would be only about 5 cents per minute. THAT is good to know. I like saving! Might actually be better if she was the one to place the calls also as then there would be less of chance for her to get any grief at work for personal calls.

I am forwarding this info to her right NOW!

Thanks a bunch for the help and info!!

Do not know if it matters at all but she is using Globe service and a NOKIA 7210 SUPERNOVA phone that her employer gave her as a gift. Perhaps the actual phone is causing the poor connections??? Thanks!!

She can apply and grab the PLDT land line plus. PLDT will provide her a pldt simcard + handset that looks like a celphone where she can bring anywhere she wants at least anywhere here in Manila. If she is just around Metro Manila Area this will work out fine with her.

Check this out. (she can request for a nicer wireless handset my friend has one. ) just look like a cellular phone

it doesnt matter what phone model she uses , i used to have nokia 3210 and i dont have problems with signal , maybe location , but is she works in Makati , surely signal wont be a problem , it is the business district in the Philippines, just like New York in the US.

PLDT Landline plus

Thanks, I looked at that link you gave. That was expensive to start and had a yearly contract as well. I badly want a more clear connection but... WOW, I look at that price tag for the startup cost and a year of service and then I start thinking 'for just a little more money'... Used laptop with messenger 9.0 and unlimited calling potential...

I know this will be a long journey and was just looking for a cost effective way to communicate clearly and often.

We had this problem for the first few months, then she switched carriers, now she has a much better signal and I can always get through. Might just want to try a different wireless carrier.

I do not think it will be cheaper for you. You still need to make an international call at the calling card rates or what the rates are through your phone provider. She was not paying to receive your calls.

i already used almost all of the phone and cellphone carrier here in the PI..

i have use Digitel's IDD card which is 3pesos per minute just like PLDT's IDD card..

even my cellphone which is Globe and also has 3pesos/minute for their tipIDD..

but when i discovered Magicjack, i think i found the best to call my hubby..i have it here on my computer

and i can install it anywhere i go.. like when i go somewhere and there is an internet cafe, i just plug it there

and use it... i think it does not take so much space of the computer's memory so u can plug it with any computer with internet...
