Well now I'm getting a crack at teaching drama now. Qualifications? I've seen a lot of movies and I drove a rig for Broadway productions!

I have my first class in less than 24 hours and I want to make a spectacular entrance. I'm looking for suggestions on male monologues. The Christian Bale tirade on the set of T4 would get their attention methinks. :jest:

Out of Sonoma, California? I did a lot of work on the trailers for that outfit. Last I heard, the couple that owned that company went to work as a wagonmaster and a bookkeeper for Hollywood Pictures. They got me some vendor work on Jack with Robin Williams, when it was on location in Marin County.

I was referring to Broadway shows that tour the country, like Cats.

The company was Cinewagons. It takes a while for the memory to kick in. Just an old fart flackblack. I will go back to the boobies thread now.

I haven't heard of them. I worked for a small company in New Jersey. God I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore.

That's not advisable.

You'd be better off with the usual introductions of yourself and asking students simple questions. You don't need to overly entertaining but you need to get them to do the talking. Break them up into groups so more of them can talk among themselves. Don't use a lot of slang and slow down your rate of speaking if you're prone to speaking quickly.

There's a lot of material on the Internet for ideas.

The students know me already. I'm just taking on a new subject.

I do everything you suggested already, especially slowing down my speech. They've called me back to school early and gave me a higher paying class, so I must be doing something right.

The Bale remark is sarcastic, like 99.9% of my other posts. I will do a short monologue for them though.

Yeah, I knew that. What I meant was you need to take it slow to see what they understand.

I taught ESL for 2 years in Taiwan. I once had a class entirely of men. They wanted to know how to swear better in English and gave them some examples. Depends on your class and their level of English.
