Hi all. First of all, if this is in the wrong forum for this, I apologize...this seemed closest to what we were looking for..

My wife received her green card a few months ago, and we're all done with the AOS process now. Last month we bought a house (!!!!) and have been working on it, fixing it up, etc. We're about to move into it, and if I understand correctly from the USCIS site, all we have to do to update the address on the green card is fill out an AR-11 online?

No way. That can't be it, it can't be that simple. Everything has been a hassle with these people...so you'll forgive me if I'm skeptical. Am I missing something, or is that really all we need to do to update the address on the green card?

Yes, the alien uses the AR-11.

If the sponsor moves (the 864 sponsor), they would have to use the I-865

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

yup, that's all you have to do. Once the USCIS has updated your new address, they will send you a letter that address has been changed.

I knew it. So hers (AR-11) can be done online, but I (the sponsor) have to submit a paper form (I-865)...since we both are going to move (into the same out, mind you).

Kind of crazy that they can't both be done online at the same time, but I guess that's about par for the course. Thanks for the info! Very much appreciate it.
