No offense to the other responses - but I would simply suggest a do-over - reloading your OS rather than chasing ghosts. Back up any important files/documents then do a fresh install. :thumbs:

If it's been a while since the system was loaded then you'll benefit from it in other ways as well.

I would only do that to a machine if it didn't take the other ways to remove things. The other ways are simpler then trying to reload the entire OS from scratch.

Most people that have computers (and get themeselves in trouble like this) usually do not even have install disks (roms) anyway, since most makers now ship it pre-loaded, and your suppose to make them yourself. (which the end user usually does not do). (not to mention the oodles of programs usually installed after purchase and now lost install disks).

Re-loading the OS is the last thing I would do. If I ever resorted to that (and I have) I would just use my "ghost" copy :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
