I am new to this forum and I see various posts by members that say they have been touched. Is this in reference to receiving notice for CIS? Does this result from being somehow linked to the CIS website with some kind of request for email notification when something happens with a petition in its process toward approval. I am quite concerned about another matter regarding sending my initial petition application to the Nebraska center and then receiving my Notice of Action which is stamped in the bottom of the form with the name and address of the California center. Why? How does this happen? How can they just decide to send my petition to another center, and so far away from my state of residence? It all seems so unfair and furthermore when I looked at their website to determine the processing dates I noticed that the California center shows petitions with a receipt date of February 15, 2006 are now being processed while the Nebraska center shows petitions with a receipt date of May 29, 2006 are now being processed. Of course I would much rather my petition stayed in Nebraska as they are much closer to June’s petitions than is California.

The touched reference has to do with the status dates changing when you check the status of your case online. With the case number on your NOA1, you can sign up on the USCIS web site to track the status of your case.

Your case got transferred to California because of IMBRA, along with thousands of others.... read about it in the IMBRA forum... we've been talking about this since April..... 10,000 cases have been impacted by this legistlation.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

You can set things up so you get updates through e-mail or you can check online. Here's the address.

Also, the online timelines they have up are not so accurate and they don't always reflect what cases they're working on.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.
