Good Day,

I'm new to this forum, and what I've read thus far; I'm happy to say, is very informative and forthcoming. Thanks VisaJourney for creating this site becouse my trek begins today.

Here's the scoop. I'm a overseas contractor in the process of collecting supporting Docs for my wife's case, who happens to be in kuwait with me. A fellow contractor turned me on to this site since his journey ended in success and offered some valuable advice. But, my situation differs bit from his, and so here are the bumps.

Bump 1: The posts I read about utilitiy bills. I don't own a house stateside nor do I lease, but my phyical/mailing adddress been the same for 10 years since it's my grandmother's house, which every six months thats were me and my wife go on vacation. Any solutions?

Bump 2: In part 6, section B in the N-400 it asks about employment history. My wife hasn't worked since 2005( Became GCH in 2008). Since we're dealing with USCIS I'd better annotae something. Any solutions?

Hi Satiety,

Welcome to VJ! And yes, it is certainly a very informative and forthcoming website, indeed!

By the way, you can also :time:, as that helps everyone here on VJ too. Thanks.

In answer to your questions, if I were you, I would do the following:

Bump 1: Since your wife is in Kuwait with you, do you share a joint residence and joint finances there? If so, do you have anything there that is in both names (housing documents, financial statements, correspondence, mail, cards, letters, other legal documents, etc.)? Even though this is in a different country, at least it shows a joint living and financial situation, which is helpful. As for your grandmother's address in the USA, maybe you can ask your grandmother to write a notarized affidavit, and to show any mail and or correspondence from that address, to prove physical address and ties in the USA. As well, you should include a letter/note from your employer, explaining your overseas work situation and why you are there instead of the USA. Also, do you and your wife have any family, friends, co-workers, neighbours, etc. in Kuwait and in the USA that can write affidavits for the both of you too?

Bump 2: Likewise, I haven't worked in the USA either, so like your wife I have no employment history (lol..except for a few volunteer gigs in between, and being a homemaker and soon-to-be mom very soon). To cover that, all I did was provide a note/letter/ explaination as to why this is the situation, and the USCIS had no problems with that for my I-751 case. I plan to do the same for the N-400 (which I will file in August), and hopefully they won't give me any problems there either. I think your wife should do the same thing too, in terms of providing an explaination to the USCIS, and it should be ok there.

Lol...I'm no expert of anything....But I hope this helps.

Good luck with the rest of your (overseas) immigration journey too.

Ant

Thanks Ant for your input.

As a matter of fact, my wife has all kinds of junk mail from credit card companies to medical bills. I hope that would establish a common household. But I'm still not sure about the before mentioned part 6 sec. B. I'm really worried; maybe I'm thinking too much, I don't know. I will mention it in the cover letter.

Hi Satiety,

You're welcome for the reply. Yes, mail of any kind (doesn't matter what it is, even if it is junk) with joint names is certainly helpful immigration-wise here, as this shows a "joint relationship" here. So by all means, ask your wife to keep those, and any other "joint mail" that you both receive, and make photocopies of them and submit them for your N-400 case.

As for the second part of your wife not having employment history, again, don't worry about that too much. Again, as long as you and your wife explain the situation, both in a cover letter, and in a separate note/letter (just in case they miss it in the cover letter), it should be ok there for the USCIS to understand about this in your N-400 case.

On the form for detailing the employment history, just put the last job that she had (in 2005) and then say about no employment history after that, as there is none, and you're not lying about it there if you just mention such......

Hope this helps too. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey.

Ant

Hi Satiety,

You're welcome...glad to be able to help there...:)

As well, as for the employment question...Just answer it like the way your wife would answer it in any other situation. I'm sure other organizations, agencies, other people in general, etc. ask too, so the same answer there, would likely apply to USCIS forms here.....

In my situation, I simply answer, and have been accepted for employment purposes as: "Homemaker" (and soon "Mom-to-be")...Which is a challenging and demanding job in itself anyways!

Lol...maybe I'll add "VJ member" to my employment history too, as I'm here on VJ for such a long time (just kidding...don't think the USCIS or anyone else will accept that one...).

Thanks too for the well-wishes about my Baby too. I'll keep everyone here on VJ updated about that...4 more weeks to go...oh my gosh...time flies by so quickly...

Ant

Ant,

I like that handle by the way. You're right, Ant, I thinking too much. Thanks again. (Bless) the child within you..

Ant,

Thanks a whole bunch. And you're right, this 319(B) stuff is a pain in the rump roast. I spoke with my manager today about my LOI and employment letter; he assured me it will done by tommarrow. Still waiting on IRS transcripts. At this point I'm 80% complete.
