Ok so, I just received my Noa1 on June 9th. Should my S/O start getting her required police records now or wait until we receive the Noa2? I was just wondering if there was a certain time limit that the police records are good for? She has already started to receive her required vaccinations and I have started gathering the required AOS documents. Is there anything else we should be taking care of? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

IIRC, the police records are good for 6 months. Wait until you get NOA2 to start collecting them, unless she's moved around a lot. If you start collecting them now, you might run into a situation where they expire before the interview.

You're really jumping the gun with AOS documents, don't worry about that until after NOA2 either, although there's certainly nothing wrong with boning up on the process.

Best thing you can do while you're waiting is to keep working on your "evidence of a relationship" materials. Phone calls, texts, emails, etc. And not just for their evidentiary value, but also because this is a great time to work on your relationship, learn some Russian, and talk about your and her expectations.

Good luck, and congratulations!!

I just worry about the police records Janna has only lived in three different places since she was 16 but she said she is afraid that the police departments in Russia will take their time with processing this information. She is afraid they will not be ready by the time her interview takes place. But yes we trying to collect as much evidence as possible right now. Thank you!

If it was me, I would have her begin getting police records at end of September. Once you receive the NOA2, if needed, an extra few rubles will always help speed the process. She will know proper way to offer this payment for effective processing.

I had past experience, they said it would take 6 months; with a box of chocolate and 2000 rubles, we had it that afternoon. Police lady was happy, former lady friend happy and I could care less about 67 dollars Sometimes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Or as in Russia,

But also as Mox has said, best to use this time to get to know each other very well. I have been through this process in past and canceled before interview process. This is excellent time to really get better aquainted; visit a second or third time, etc.

Keep in mind also that the police report covers the entire "region" and not just one city. If her cities of residence were all in the same region, she'll only need one police report. It's basically the equivalent of a report from the "state police" here. If she's lived in other regions, the region she's in now could have the other ones fax them over.

Sometimes, they make the girls present their interview appointment slips as proof of why they need the reports. If you're worried about getting it ASAP, you may have to "pay the fine" to get it quicker. Different regions have different rules, but it typically takes anywhere from two days to six months to get one. She'll just have to see what the situation is in her region.

You're really jumping the gun with AOS documents, don't worry about that until after NOA2 either, although there's certainly nothing wrong with boning up on the process.

Yep, there's not a lot you can do now. Only thing for AOS is she needs to make a copy of that DS-3025 to include all those "required vaccinations" she's been getting. (DS-3025 is a vaccination form. She'll get one during her medical exam. Have her specifically ask for a copy and have her hand-carry it with her when she comes here. It may save you a trip to the civil surgeon (and $50!) before you apply for AOS.)

As said in the other post, send some hand-written cards, letters, etc. E-mails are a dime a dozen, anyone can print out a phone record. But, taking the time to write (in Russian if possible!) a letter to your sweety shows how much you truly care.

NOA2 has nothing to do with it. End of September is probably about right. Extra rubles could help.

If you could care less about 67 dollars, PM me and I'll reply with PayPal info.

John is right though, sometimes you have to "pay the fine" to get what you need. My wife didn't pay squat and had hers in about three weeks. She didn't apply until after she had the interview date.

But also as Mox has said, best to use this time to get to know each other very well. I have been through this process in past and canceled before interview process. This is excellent time to really get better aquainted; visit a second or third time, etc.

Must be nice to have all that money! (PM me, really!) But if you don't have the money to visit a second or third time, send a couple of hand-written cards, letters, and some photos (even photos of you back here just going about your daily life. "Here I am at the bar with my buddies watching football. Can't wait til you're here!") and then just sit back and relax. You have a ways to go and if I were you, I'd save every penny I had for AFTER she gets here. Plus you still have to get her through the interview process and get her here, etc. And that's all before she goes shopping!

Maybe I have extra money because I hate beer! :crying:

Age must have something to do with it; when I was your age, I could not afford a "mail order bride" also.

I always found the problems with a mail-order bride was that postage was REALLY expensive, and often they forgot to punch holes in the package...

And you're marrying a Russian? Do you at least drink Vodka (yes that's a big V out of respect) or wine or something?

I don't think I can either. My wife keeps telling me I'm too poor for her. Good thing I had decent credit before she got here.

Be prepared for her to tell you she needs some documents with an apostle. At the ministry of justice they told her this was required for America. I just told her they wanted to take more of 'our' money. It's not worth arguing about. I asked her to ask them at the embassy if that was true or not. A subtle attempt to prove I am right. I'm just wondering if she will even remember my request when she has her interview tomorrow, or I should say today as it is only 7+ hours away.
