Hey guys!

I am visiting with my family in Alabama and we were talking about Canadian citizenship for my cousins since my uncle was born and raised in Canada. He moved to the US in 1984 and is a US Citizen. His children are 23, 19 and 12. If I remember correctly, they are able to get dual citizenship.. right? But when I started looking for information for them, it says that they need to have a minimum of three years lived in Canada inorder to to get dual citizenship. Anyone know if that is true or not? My uncle was just wanting to apply for it for them to have it.

Yes, they can claim Canadian citizenship as well.

The adult children will be able to send off their own applications and the minor will need his CDN born parent to complete on his behalf. Your uncle will prob need an original copy of his long form BC and his ID, great thing is their is no residency requirement! It may be easier and cheaper to report their births and then apply for passport.
