Recently, I sent out the first package to the california service center. With all docs. needed. As you all must feel the same as kirsteen and I (exceited) to start our lives together. I am being pressed by her everyday with questions about this k1 process and trying to do my best not to screw things up. I would also like to know to. Could anyone tell me from past experiance "IF THE SERVICE CENTER CASHIES MY CHECK" does that mean it has been approved for the first part ? Or am i getting ahead of myself. If it is going tobe sent back to me because of an RFE do they usally cash the check anyway?

More than a speed race, this is an endurance race... hahahahaha!!!! You are going to need all the love and patience you have, and acquire a lot more along the way.

Afeter the cheque is cleared, The NOA1 arrives to your mail, Then you have to wait with a loooot of patience, because this is the most stressful part of the journey... (about 4 to 6 months to go), in order to receive your NOA2. In the mean time you can receive a RFE, and you have to answer to it sending whatever documents de USCIS requires to prove you are in a bona fide relationship, Then some more waiting.... until one sunny, lucky, happy day, you receive your NOA2, this document means your case has been approved and then it goes to the NVC (National Visa Center), where it can stay for a period of 2 weeks or more... Then the NVC sends your approved package to the Embassy/Consulate of the country of your fiancee and there, depending on the country (have to check the Embassy Review Forum on this site), they call her to let her know that she has to fill some more papers and take a medical exam. With those papers you pay the Consulate fee and a PIN to call to make an appointment, and then they give you the date of the interview....

In rough terms this is how the process goes, so again... PATIENCE MY FRIEND!!!! you are going to need lots and lots of it!!!

Wish you guys a speedy process and God bless ya!!!

You're ahead of yourself if you think cashing the check means anything significant.

Thank you for your info

On the back of the canceled check you will find your case number which will let you track your case online.

It will be in your NOA1 document which arrives days later.

But sit back and wait, it will be months before it's "touched" again.

You will either get a NOA2 or a RFE at some point.

I'm on the same boat, waiting.............

Good luck.
