After recent attacks on Indian students in Melbourne and Sydney, one Facebook group - which says Australia is "full" and urges immigrants to "learn the language" or enjoy their "right to leave" - has attracted nearly 64,500 members.

One poster calls on Australians to stand against "curry munching idiots", saying the attacks on the students may have been "frustration driven, due to their foolish traits and culture".

"We request you to please unite and stand against the recent protests by Indians ... drive all the immigrants out and make Australia clean," he said.

"We have our unique Aussie culture, we drink beer, we eat meat, pork and beef. If you can't bear with that, please leave."

...

Deakin University Associate Professor Dr Rohan Bastin ... says the fact a Facebook group, like this one, could attract so many members is depressing, but not surprising.

"The previous federal government under John Howard really promoted those issues," he said.

Facebook is hosted in the US, so it is not breaking any Australian laws.

That would be taken down there. Remember, they do not have an no-holds-barred freedom of speech clause.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

But those 65,000 'clowns' are Australian. I am guessing Australia makes all children join the circus for a year, how else do y'all come up with so many damn clowns?

An ethnic minority in your country is routinely attacked and discriminated against, in real life and on Facebook, and all you can come with is how awful American liberals are?

Actually it is US laws that permits this sort of stuff. The same site would have been forced to remove that ####### there. ;)

Do you blame American liberals for the actual attacks as well?

By the way - whatever ethnicity the attackers may be, they are still Australian.

I didn't say it was representative of the general population, but it *is* a lot of people.

If 65,000 and 0.003% of the population "is a lot", then what does that say about the 1,153,264 British born folks living in Australia? It must be those racist types leaving the UK. the smart ones go to Jersey.

Furthermore, 24% of the Australia population was born overseas. How many other countries can say that? To call them racist is the equivalent of calling Gandhi a self centered imperialistic capitalist.

New Jersey (not a country, I know) comes close, 23%.

But that, of course, has nothing to do with it.

The fact is, Australians are attacking, in a brutal and heinous manner, an ethnic minority.

And they are celebrating it on Facebook.

Shameful!

Just seems to me to be a lot of members for a Facebook group promoting an obviously racist agenda.

That's my opinion. Deal with it.
