Hi, guys! My wife (intending immigrant) and I (primary sponsor)are currently and will live with my mother for at least a couple of years. However, I am not dependent on my mother nor is my mother dependent on me. I'm wondering if I need to include her in my household size. My income will exceed 125% of the poverty line IF my household size is 2 but not 3. I'm not sure if I need to include my mother in the household size or not. If so, that would make it 3 in which case I would need to add info on my assets or my wife's assets or even have my mother fill out an I-864A etc. I've read of one person who did not include their parents and got approved with no problems. But, that was just one case I heard of.

So, do I need to include my mother as a household member?

Thanks in advanced!

As you describe your situation, mom would not be included in your household. The affidavit is looking for your financial household, not taking a head count of who is living under the same roof.

My mom and I shared a home during the K visa process. For the I-134 and I-864 she was not a part of the household.
