We're scheduled to fly to the US quite soon. Just need to know: Will they open our suitcases and inspect all items? How long does that take? How should we pack them then? We're bringing clothes of course, some jewelry, computer hardware, books, blankets, notebooks, a little medicine aand vitamins, some figurines, writing matrerials, camera and hand-carried items like a laptop and the paperwork. Will they just look over our customs declaration or will they open our luggage? Do we fill one paper for both of us, or just one? We each have 2 suitcases and 1 carry--on plus an extra box for certain items.

Also can we put the sealed envelope in a carry-on bag until we're at the POE? It said don't pack, it should be handcarried.

When you enter the U.S. you will line up, 2 sections, U.S. citizens, and Foreign nationals, that is the first , that is Immigration, that is where you will turn over the envelope, you you must hand carry it, or put it in carry on baggage. After that you may be interviewed, after they allow you to leave, you will pick up your luggage, once aftet this you will go thru U.S. Customs, now they may inspect, its at random, I recommend you keep all medication and or vitamins in their original containers and keep in your checked luggage, keep just what you need in your carry on bags in their original vials.

Each person will fill out a U.S. Customs Declaration form, this is done while your still on the plane close to end of the flight.

For packing just pack neatly. Know what is in your suit case. Pack your own suitcase.

You may also want to do a inventory, you mentioned jewelry, you may want to put in in your carry on bags, and if possible carry the reciepts on you for your jewelry. It will be fine. Best wishes

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.
