Calling Public Health Department

Hi Guys!...

This is my first post since I was in Korean airport for my connecting flight. I arrived here just fine. I only have one problem for now. When I got to the immigration at my POE, it took me for a while because I am in K1 visa (needed a lot of checking esp my health issue, damn SLEC!), but things went fine.

Now, I was told to call the public health department to have further check because I got through that silly sputum culture at SLEC. I was asked if I had PTB before, I said never and never have serious respiratory problems. My fiance will call them today as what the immigration instructed me.

Our problem is that, Public Health Department at Springfield is so far from Joliet. If we needed to go there, it will took as the whole weekend.

My fiance will call them later during his break time from work. So, I don't know yet what's the best thing to do? While waiting for him to tell me how things will work.

I just want to if we could just request to have me check-up to the nearest Public Health accredited hospital where we live? How much it is usually cost for further check-up? What would be the process we needed to undergo again?

I am not sure what your instructions are but you may be able to use to find something closer to your area.

You can have yourself checked in your nearest health department and get the necessary vaccinations. Once you're doing your AOS, that's when you will have to go to an authorized civil surgeon for the I-693a. Some people didn't have to see a CS, they just mailed the paperwork to some doctor in Texas.
