Hey all,

I hope im in the right forum to ask this question.... My mom she is 47 years old permanent resident of va for over 10 years and has Kidney failure... She is on dialysis and Hopefully this summer my 19 year old sister is going to donate her kidney to my mom because she is a match. My mom wanted her 74 year old father to be here through this process. She can not travel, and she has not seen him for a while. So I filled out all the forms and stuff and sent them to my grandpa (by the way he lives in islamabad PAKISTAN), he took the forms to American express and they gave him interview date the next day for MAY 1, 2009. He went and he provided them with The doctor letters, and proof that he will pay his own expenses. But they didn't even ask him anything or looked at anything, took about 1 min. All they asked him was how long he was planning to stay and he said a couple of months. They then took his passport and told him you have been approved American express will contact you in a couple of days to pick up your passport. Since then no news... he has gone to the embassy and American express office and all they tell him is to wait, that when we have your passport we will call you.

I really don't know what to make of this, Im assuming he has been put on background check...? whats your opinion on this, or if you have had a similar experience, or any advice at all???? I live in VA and a friend suggested that I call the senator and ask for help since I did vote for him... any advice, suggestions, help in any way would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hey again......

all right no response.... lol... anyway i just wanted to let u all know some things which might save u time or help u in some way... i contacted senator Jim Webbs office... they were very polite efficient and helpful... i wrote a letter explaining our situation... i had a response within a week... they contacted Pakistan embassy and inquired about the case.. they sent me a copy of the response they received which basically just said my grandpa is on background check... and they dont know how long it will take... and when they are done they will contact him... blah blah blah... so my point is if ur in this situation... dont waste ur time and energy... with contacting political ppl to help u out... I know sometimes u need something... some hope... some need... but in the end u just have to hold on... its been over 2 months and still no passport...
