Hello everyone!

My fiance and I have finally gotten our appt date after waiting nearly a year! I filed his K1 visa to bring him from Iran. We have our appointment in Ankara, Turkey.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the embassy does any kind of background checking or processing on his case during these 4 months while we are waiting for our appointment for his visa. I was hoping that if they do some processing now and if all goes well, then he may get his visa a few days later instead of being put in AP and being forced to go back to Iran to wait for God knows how long. Any info that anyone may have would be much appreciated!!

Thank you so much and good luck to all of you. I pray your loved ones will reach you soon...

I had the same concern, so I emailed the embassy. They told me the decision to do background checking (AP) is made at the interview and if they require it, the process begins a day or two afer.

I wish you luck and hope your case is approved wihout AP.

Hey! So as of recently,of the people I've heard of, who are from Iran, including my own husband, none were not put on AP. It's very important that your relationship is clearly a real one (pictures are a great way to show this especially pics with family and friends and the two of you...as well as if you yourself can make it to the interview). Sometimes it just happens because the person's name rings up a flag or something... but like I said... so far, whether the interviews were in Abu Dhabi or Ankara, there hasn't been AP's THAT I'VE heard of. So hang in there, good luck and congrats on getting the interview! Ours was last month and it went very well... they gave my husband the visa next day. You're in my prayers! let me know if I can help with anything!
