No, it's just seems really hard for you to grasp the concept of someone loving and respecting a country but having doubts, disagreements or even disrespect for it's current government. Somehow, the America I moved to in 1996 was quite different from the America I live in today. There are radicals trying to tell me and my fellow Americans how to live while it's none of their fcuking business. And I will continue to tell them to ** the hell off!

I still love America: It's the home of choice for me and my wife.

Who's telling who how to live?

I don't know which country you migrated from but in Australia, for example, you can say and do whatever you want, unless it affects someone else in a negative manner. There is a clear line which cannot be crossed, well not without consequences..

Whereas in the US, thanks to the first amendment, there is no line. I actually like that. That is, I can say and do whatever I want and I am covered by the first amendment.. I can make someone cry from my insults but oh well I am covered by the first amendment. not that i would.. Whereas in Australia my ### would be in jail, period!

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

You're joking, right? "beep's" on TV and radio to cover "offensive" language is something I have never, ever seen anywhere but here in the US. That's solely about hurting someone's feelings, is it not? There are pople that decide what I can hear and see and what I cannot ehar and see. It's not my choice, it's a choie that's made for me by people that you and I did not choose. And the media gets fined for letting anything, even a bare breast, slip through to the public.

There's no line thanks to the First Amendment my #######. Oh, and I type "#######" because the typically used word will look like this even on a message board: ###

With regards to the post in question - assuming that everything will be all right with the world simply by making it look all right strikes me as a little naive. Suggesting that significant social, educational and ethnic disparities can be solved simply by "people pulling their socks up" (or are somehow irrelevant) is also naive - but also not untypical of the position of someone who hasn't experienced many of the very real obstacles that someone who has not had to deal with the very real obstacles faced by people of certain ethnicities. Words are cheap. As we all know.

sounds like the kind of person who turns a blind eye to reverse racism... This is where I agree with some of the previous posts. So many Americans, especially your leftwing mob, have their heads in the sand..

Only 20% of Americans have passports. This is a clear indication of how many people travel abroad. Travel is what broadens the mind.. I guess that is why 'certain' people in the US insist on wrecking it for everybody else. Certain people who chose to open their mouth but don't dare travel to countries like south africa, for example, and see for themselves how lucky they are to be living in the US and not in a country where people are 12 times more likely to be killed.. Or how its funny that there doesn't seem to be a Snopp Dogg or Will Smith coming out of Rwanda, a place where people drink milk once a month and are dying.. Of course, these people stay in their little liberal strongholds and blame the US and right for everything.

I just wish American congress proposed a new 'common sense' amendment which states: 'America is for people who love, believe and bloddy want to be in America. For people who want to do the best they can to progress their lives and America. In its good times and bad..'

Not really - I don't deny that "reverse racism" exists after a fashion, but seeing as african americans and other blacks generally speaking do not occupy positions of power (hence the ), I think you would be hard pressed to claim that anyone 'not' black has suffered from it - being denied a job for example.

So the 80% of americans who have passports AND travel are supposedly largely conservative? Give me a break.

Actually I'm glad you mentioned South Africa - a country which until relatively recently resembled the political landscape of 1950's America. Clearly they've done away with apartheid now, but do you think that (in itself) has fixed the problems of that society - which is as you say, rampant with crime and unemployment.

Do you think that in 200 years there won't be people wondering why it is that many blacks are still living in shanty villages, still unable to secure a high paying job, still behind educationally, and are still responsible for a lot of crime.

Simply saying "now you're equal" doesn't instantly make it so. Why do you think rap music and bling-bling culture are so popular in a US? Simply put it’s because there is a cultural sense of hopelessness in many of these communities that young people will always occupy a rung below everyone else (i.e. not black) and that the only way they can get ahead in life and have any sense of respect is through crime?

While some draw the erroneous conclusion that has to do with race, it has everything to do with significant and very socio-economic disparities that exist between different ethnic groups.

And before we start to bring in asian ethnic minorities who traditionally score highly academically and do very well in the workplace, it must be remembered that these people were not repressed or enslaved to anything like the degree that blacks were and have a much greater sense of cultural identity. China, for example, has distinction of having the oldest civilised culture on the planet.

America is for people who love, believe and bloddy want to be in America. For people who want to do the best they can to progress their lives and America. In its good times and bad..'

Interesting POV. Of course, as you know people don't have the luxury of choice as to where they live. For my own position, I would much rather live in the UK, or elsewhere in Europe. I am here however because my wife has many financial obligations here in the US, I have none. Moving to the UK would have required her to default on those debts, which would of course, cause her more than a few legal entanglements if she were to return home. What's the alternative here? Are you going to start telling people that they shouldn't get married?

Since when do people not have the right to talk about issues (and complain about government decisions) that they think are important? Silence does not equal happiness. But I'm sure you know that.
