I got an email, supposedly from a friend, offering an invite to a new site. the name is legit, has my name, and email address all correct. Curious, I took the next step, and then it asks for the password for the email account. I didn't proceed any further, and reported it as spam, especially when it offered to download software on my computer. Legit, or not, that's not stuff I like.

I chatted with the friend that supposedly sent it. They had no idea, and was getting a lot of stuff like that. I assume her address book got compromised. My wife later got the same solicitation.

A google search shows InfoAxe.com as some sort of AI project out of Stanford, a new search engine to rival Google and Yahoo. Another site says it is leaving stealth mode today.

Whatever it is, I don't like it, and I am passing the info on. Perhaps someone here knows better, and can alleviate my fears.
