Hi,

Please can someone help me? I'm just need to confirm that when sending in additional documents like birth certificate, you send in a photocopy and the original copy which should be returned with the visa.

Is this true?

Patience is virtue needed by all, so folks always pray and be patient! Goodluck all!

How long has everyone had to wait to get their visa back after sending in their passport and long form birth certificate? I just had no idea that when you get a birth certificate it would be the wrong type, so we're stuck with more waiting. We sent everything back to the Embassy on the 4th and the DOS said the Embasey didn't recieve it until the 10th. Now we wait with again no end in sight. Thanks for anyone's input with their situation. MC

Some of the operators at DoS use the term admin processing when they just mean the paperwork is being dealt with, not that the case is in formal AP undergoing additional checks. They explained this to me when they used the phrase and I freaked out as I'd just come out of AP at the NVC.

My fiance interviewed October 15, 2009

His co sponsor documents were sent directly to the Embassy with delivery confirmation on October 11, 2009 (This was a mistake even though the Embassy website states you can do so)

He was given a blue form and told to resubmit the co sponsor paperwork with his passport via courier to the Embassy which he did on Oct 19, 2009. After $80 USD in phone calls to Embassy operators kept telling us 10-15 working days and the process would be complete but we are still waiting...

DOS operators told me the same it's in admin processing and I nearly fainted but then they explained its not the same. It simply means the paperwork is just being processed.

How did you send it? via Embassy's secure courier or through Royal Mail?

It takes a while for them to sort through the mail, don't worry too much.

prima and jay (and anyone else that can shed some light on the matter...):

I have a friend who interviewed out of London for K-1 on May 22nd. She was issued a 221(g) for co-sponsor I-134. She was told by the interviewer that they are awaiting her forms, that's all, nothing about being approved or anything like that. Her fiance called DOS to find out, and he was told that her case is under processing, last updated May 22nd (they day of her interview). Does this mean she is under Admin Processing? Or does this mean that they are waiting on her required documents? If she is under Admin Processing, would her case be updating after May 22nd? Or is it safe to think that her case has just been suspended due to her pending documents and that the words "under processing" don't mean she is under Admin Processing? I guess her fiance should call DOS and outright ask if she is under background checks in Washington or whether they are ONLY waiting for her co-sponsor documents, but if anyone can share a similar experience, please do!!! :help:

lol you are late.

just take a deep breath and let it go. you will get your visa in hand soon enough. dependent upon whether theres a backlog at the embassy. maybe someone could clarify as to what the current waiting times are at the embassy. Also you can check that here I believe on this site to see how long/quick visa's are being issued.

Hope it comes soon, be prepared to get even more flustered when it does.

We for sure sent it with the Embassy Courier service. It is just so frustrating that we paid for a rush delivery and it took them a week to acknowledge that it was even there. Now more empty responses when we call and ask the status. I am just kicking myself for not knowing about a simple birth certificate.

Our feelings exactly, we're in the same boat. What we paid for is not rush delivery is actually for that they don't shread our documents upon receipt  i think they need some more help in the mail dept. Others experienced the same and got through eventually just another small bump in the journey to overcome.

It's been a month today since we submitted the requested documents via Embassy Courier.

I called Embassy ($16 again :hehe: ) this morning and explained that to them and was given a code to email them for more details without my email being deleted.

Here's the reply I got this morning from the email.

Your fiancé’s application is under review by a consular officer. Unfortunately there is no set period of time that this review takes. Times quoted should be used only as a guide.

We recognize than applicants and their families may be frustrated by the extended waiting and we are sensitive to the fact that the immigrant visa program is to facilitate legitimate travel to the United States. Nonetheless, the consular officer must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law and, in some cases, this involves additional processing and review.

Please be assured that your fiancé will be contacted as soon as the review of his case is completed

This informal method of responding enables us to respond to you within a shorter time. No record is being made of this correspondence. If you need to e-mail us again, please return this e-mail.

Hi gang!

I am a bit confused.. about to send off my I-134, etc. to my fiancee in England for her interview.

I am of course the sponsor, and my dad will be the co-sponsor... he lives with me.

He doesn't have a birth certificate (he was born in Germany), but has a certificate of Naturalization here from the US District Court.

Can I just send a copy of that? (I notice people here stating they are sending original birth certificates) ...I am confused if a copy of his Certificate of Naturalization will be enough

I am sending a copy of my birth certificate also (short one i guess), and my passport ... as they are part of the copy of our entire I-129 petition

I am trying to learn from everyone else's experiences here in this thread, so as to avoid any sort of delay whatsoever.

I would be eternally grateful for any feedback or help with my confusion!!

Thanks to you all in advance! :)
