Hello everyone,

I am starting the Adj of Status papers for my wife and need some advice.

In form I-485, Part #1

First question wants a Family name for my wife.

Should I use her name from before we got married, as is on her passport and K1 visa??

Or use our married name?

I read over the instructions and did not see anything that addresses this question.

When I filed my AOS I used my husband family name and middle name ( maiden name)

in other name used: I wrote my complete maiden name.

adjustment of status for k-1 is all about marriage so think about it.... they would expect the new name.

I used my married name.

use the name she will intend to use legally, so if she is taking a new name upon marriage use her married name.
