My wife just issued a new passport with her new married name and she has her local district police clearance certificate.

However, when she visited Ahmedabad passport office, she was asked to present "missing PCC letter checklist" before they can issue PCC from passport office.

Since I do not have her papers yet, I have not submitted anything to NVC, so have no checklist or RFE whatsoever.

Can anyone suggest how can I make missing PCC RFE for her to take to passport office just to get the passport clearance certificate? If I submit everything to PCC later this week and wait for their RFE, it will delay the case much.

Another question: Can I just submit certified true copy of district police to NVC right now and will they be okay with that? and she can take passport clearance to interview. What are the options? Please suggest.

Thanks

Hi Trushar...

Ahmadabad passport office is really problematic in case of PCC...they will give you much hard time .so be prepared for that...actually for PCC only approval letter (copy ) is enough...

now, you do one thing...try to convince officer at passport office for PCC or submit certified copy of district level police certificate to NVC and wait for PCC RFE in mail. .then again call at NVC and tell them you will submit passport office PCC on the day on interview .....after that, you show that RFE at passport office and take PCC....i am sure this will help you. otherwise this Ahmedabad office is really horrible for PCC matter..

ita my good luck that my passport also issued from ahmedabad but now my town is under Surat jurisdiction....so, i get pcc is just 2 days..

if any trouble ..then post again..

peter

Trushar,

I just posted the same thing today. Someone replied back that I can just send the local district PCC and NVC should still approve it. Don't know for sure if it'll work or not, but this something I've found out. I'm planning to call NVC to see what they say...if they confirm this then we should be okay.

My wife is going through the same situation. First she was told by local DSP office that she needs to change her name on passport and add my name as her middle name. Don't know why this is necessary. It should be up to the person if they want to change their name. (I would like to know if anyone else had to do this?)

Anyways I have learned to live with this situation. She is going to change her name in passport which is going to take about 10 days.

Lets see what's next when she goes to Ahmedabad Passport office.

I hate this PCC requirement since I am worried that it is going to delay my wife's visa process. :(
