police certificate guys?

Hi guys

how did you, or your fiance,fiancees obtain a police certificate ??

there are making it hard for my fiance at local police station

and is it true that if the passport is valid for 6 months, no certificate from local police station is needed?

Known each other since we were kids ! =]

08/24/08-Engaged

01/10/2009- Sent

01/12/2009-NOA1

03/17/09- NOA2

03/25/09- NVC recieved

3/26/09- Forwarded to New Delhi Embassy

4/6/09- Packet 3 sent

4/8/09- Sent packet 3 to embassy

4/13/09-Embassy Sent packet 4

4/20/09- Recieved packet 4

4/25/09- Medical - passed =]

5/04-09- Gave paperwork to VFS

5/14/09- Intreview

Approved!!!!!!!!!!

5/26/09- POE at SFO

Just talk to a few people around they will definately issue you a certificate, if needs be, then just give a little money here and there to expedite the process as things work in india.

as far as i know, no validity of passport does not impact certificates you will still require one

If I recall correctly, the rule was that if you just RECEIVED your passport in the past 6 months than you only need a clearance from the Passport office and not the local police station(s) (because they have already recently checked up on you).

Anyway, yes getting the clearances is a huge headache. In my husband's case there were many trips to local police stations, district magistrate offices and to the superintendent of police. Lots of leg work and 'tips' to get people to do their jobs are in order - Making it "hard" is partly a way of asking for said tips, I think...it sucks, but that's the way it works over there. Eventually though, they will come through it he/she is persistent enough.
